Roland R-88
Neumann microphones
Our field setup pairs a Roland R-88 with Neumann small-diaphragm microphones for recording instruments on location.
02 / RECORDING FORMAT
24-bit / 192 kHz
The R-88 records at up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, with four channels available at that sample rate. Session settings vary; the delivered files have their own listed specifications.
03 / STUDIO RECORDING
Acoustics & microphone placement
In the studio, we can adjust the acoustics and microphone positions for the instrument, then use monitoring and playback to check the performance.
The recording process
Agree on the repertoire and permissions, record the session, review the edits and prepare the files.
Agree on the material
A complete piece and a sample pack need different recordings. Before the session, agree on the repertoire, instruments, playing techniques and intended use, along with each contributor’s role and permissions.

Recording settings and delivered file formats can differ. The product page lists the specifications of the files included in your download.

- Check the format, sample rate and bit depth where listed. Lossy formats such as MP3 are identified separately from lossless audio.

- The list shows file names, sizes and audio specifications, so you can check what is included before buying.
- 03Source & license
- Read the source notes and the license for the track or pack. Ask for a quote if your intended use falls outside the listed scope.
